FAQ

Hopefully, you have questions.  After all, this is a big decision. Review some commonly asked questions below.  And if you don't see what you're looking for, please give us a call or email us!

Who are you?
Premier Sound is a mobile DJ service that caters to Weddings, Corporate Events, and Formals. We also perform at Anniversaries, graduation parties, and other functions. We serve the Midwest, and are based out of Kansas City, MO.  But if you are looking for a goofy, stereotypical DJ experience, look elsewhere.  Our service caters to couples and groups looking to enhance their event with an experienced professional, not overpower it with cheesy commentary, music inapproprate to your event, or an unprofessional demeanor. Our goal is to provide you with an elegant and classy event that is fun for everybody on your guest list.  We are insured for your peace of mind.

How much can I expect to pay?
With Premier Sound, there are never any hidden fees. The final fee provided for the services described in your contract will never change. We offer 2 DJ Packages for the Omaha area to keep things easy. (For more information, visit our pricing page)

$100 non-refundable deposit is due when the contract of services is signed. Final payment is due one week before the event.

Note: We try to keep our pricing structure as simple as possible.  However, sometimes there are special considerations or needs for a particular event that could incur additional charges (i.e., outdoor settings, larger events, special requests). This is something that can be discussed in person, and once pricing is agreed upon, it will not change after it is written in the contract.

Be wary of vendors who give you low ball quotes, but only give you 3 hours of time. If your reception runs longer, you find out "it's another $200 per hour or we walk out right now". You don't want surprises. Premier Sound is a professional DJ service.  All of our fees are locked in with our contract, and will not change. Premier Sound even offers multiple payment methods for our services. Call or email to find out more.

Who will be the actual DJ performing at our wedding?
This one is important. You want to know who you are dealing with. At Premier Sound, the DJ you interview with is the DJ that will be performing for you at your reception.

What attire will your DJ wear at our wedding or event?
You want your DJ to wear appropriate attire. As unbelievable as it sounds, many DJs wear jeans and a shirt, or other casual attire to Weddings. Premier Sound dress code requires that we dress to impress. Our DJs act professional, and look professional. This means that our guys wear a suit and tie to most events unless requested to do otherwise.

How will Premier Sound know what music we like?
Communication. Something lacking with a lot of DJ services who like to just show up and play what they want. We provide a form for you to fill out that allows you to provide a list of requests and suggestions, songs or artists you do want played, or that you don't want played, etc. along with your schedule of events. This allows us to seamlessly integrate our services into your reception or event, and play the music that you want. Additionally, our 1-on-1 consultations will ensure all of your bases are covered, and there are no hidden surprises.

What type of equipment do you use?

QSC K12 1000 watt speakers and MBT led par can effect lighting. Lightweight, high-end equipment that looks clean and professional, and will dazzle your guests.

Are you prepared if there is equipment failure?

You hope it never happens, but the reality is, anything is possible. What is important, is that there is minimal downtime, and the party doesn't skip a beat. Premier Sound carries sufficient backup equipment to replace any unit that ceases to function properly, and keep your guests out on the dance floor. Additionally, the equipment that we use is professional grade DJ equipment, and designed to be rugged and durable.

Just how much music do you have?
Many DJs brag about their thousands of CDs and endless song selection. The truth is that for an average 4 hour wedding reception, no more than 50-70 songs are played in an evening. Although we also have access to literally thousands of legal, high quality songs, what you really have to ask yourself is this:  Is your DJ playing the right songs?

We carry the latest and greatest tunes (updated weekly), plus thousands of songs from a wide variety of genres.

Part of the purpose of our 1-on-1 consultation, music selection form, and 24/7 phone and email support is to develop, in advance, a playlist that is tailor-made for your reception.

And since we encourage your involvement in the song selection process, you can make your reception truly your own.

Do you take requests?
Yes. We can and do if the Bride and Groom wish to allow it.  But this is something that will be discussed beforehand. When requests get out of hand, and a DJ let's the guests start picking music without discretion, it can negatively affect the flow of the evening. (For instance, a member of the bridal party demands that her favorite song be played, insisting that everybody will love it. Suddenly, a packed floor dissipates, killing the mood of the evening.)

On the other hand, if the DJ has his/her own agenda, not taking into account the tastes of the bride and groom, or their guests, the same thing can happen. What matters most is that the dance floor is packed and people are having a good time.

Do you use CDs or Records? I've been told that a Professional DJ will use nothing else.
Many DJs still hang on to their mountains of CDs or Vinyl records, lugging them around to every event, clumsily playing one after another. And in the nightclub setting, Vinyl Records still hold their place for scratching and mixing.

But a Wedding is really not the ideal setting for Vinyl or CD formats. Although Premier Sound DJs have the ability to play CDs for your reception, we utilize modern technology to bring you high quality digital sound. We are able to efficiently manage, organize, and play from a database stored on our computer. This is actually more reliable than CDs, which can scratch and skip. Our professional DJ software allows us to mix and crossfade all of our digital music live just as if we were using CD or Vinyl, only in a much more effecient and compact package.

How far will you travel?
We offer our services in the Omaha area, as well as Kansas City.  Contact us to see if our services are available in your area, as we will often travel beyond this radius.  Applicable, yet reasonable travel charges will apply to areas we don't traditionally serve.

You sound too good to be true! How can I book you for our event?
First of all, thanks! We take pride in what we do. Give us a call at (816) 200-1492 contact us via email to see our availability for your reception. We will provide a free phone consultation.

Upon agreement of our services, we will provide you with our event coordination and music selection form for you to fill out for your event, so that we can determine your needs and begin designing a playlist for you and shaping the order of events.

We also arrange for a free 1-on1 consultation to meet in person, and a contract of services to be signed. A $100 non-refundable deposit is all that is required at this time. Final payment is due one week prior to the event.
